Sunday Shoes!!

I can feel Spring in the air. What a glorious thing! Winter has stuck around for far too long this year. It's still cold in the Lowcountry, and people here are NOT responding well to the unusual weather. I wish I knew if the groundhog saw his shadow or not so I could provide you with a count down of just how much longer it will be until we can wear summer sandals and flippy floppys! But for now, these shoes are great! LOVE the woven pattern and they're perfect for crazy, unpredictable weather that comes between Winter and Spring. Have a great week friends!! Stay posted...tomorrow could be big news!!!

Who is your Idol?

Even though I hate paying my Comcast bill each month, this time of year makes it all worthwhile. Yes, I am referring to American Idol. The show where everyday people bridge the gap between celebrities and the rest of us. So who will be our new baby celebrity this year...we shall find out.

Last night and tonight the top 24 performed, and I must say...they should have been a little more bold with their performances. I thought as a whole the performances were a little slow. Still good, but could have been better. The judges, Simon especially did not miss a chance to remind the contestants that this is a contest and if they want to win, they need to step it up and stand out among the group. Thank you Simon for putting fear in all theirs eyes to do better, and thank you to the newest Idol judge, Ellen DeGeneres for encouraging everyone and reminding them about star power. Because let's face it, average people do not really know how exactly to be a star.

Since my love for American Idol is more than I can handle, I have decided to share it with you. This year, I've decided to rank each performance throughout the show for voting purposes. I have used a simple 1-10 scale. 1 being me singing in my car by myself and 10 being Carrie Underwood performing any of her top ten hits. The past few nights Idols have been all over the place, but no one joined me or Carrie.

So here are my top 3 ladies and top 3 gentlemen...

for the ladies:
Didi Benami
Michelle Delamore
Katelyn Epperly

for the fellas:
Michael Lynche (whom I will refer to as Big Daddy Mike)
Casey James
Andrew Garcia

As for making it into my personal top 3, these Idols should know that does not mean they will stay there. They will be competing each week for the privilege, and I will inform you who I think should continue on in the game. Who knows, maybe I'll be the one to replace Simon.

Sunday Shoes...fashionable late

Happy Monday! I couldn't post these yesterday due to the rather important post below :) Regardless, this is a pair of shoes that should not go unmentioned. TOMS!!! As if the comfort isn't enough for TOMS, the cause is even better. For every pair of shoes people buy, TOMS gives a pair to people in third world countries who do not have shoes. So...if you do not have a pair of TOMS...click here and get you and someone in a need a pair!

Saturday with Tara and Steph

It all started with a few clinks while Tara and I were on our way to the outlets to enjoy a lovely Saturday in Charleston...

And we say, "what was that?" Tara..."sounds like you just hit a small animal." To which I look in the rear view mirror and see nothing in the road. So I'm sure it was nothing. Right? WRONG.

Upon returning to the car, I nearly had a heart attack and immediately felt as if the only thing worse right now would be if my other three wheels had spinners one them. This is what those "few clinks" were....
Yes. Hubcap. Wheel-cover. Whatever you prefer. I now like to call it My Hub.

We immediately went into crisis mode trying to figure out what to do. I was thankful to have just purchased an adorable pair of large sunglasses to avoid people's stares at the Hub. Tara preceded to point out other Hubs (or lack there of) to assure me it's not that bad. So I asked what one of the drivers of a hubless car looked like and she said...well never mind her exact comment, we'll just say, the lady didn't look like me.

We were on a quest to find the Hub. And this is what friends are truly for.I had just seen half of a hubcap and was quite upset when...Tara spotted the Hub, My Hub, across the road. We immediately did a U-turn (legally) and Tara ran out into the road to save it!

For this I am SO SO thankful, because without Tara, this could be the Galant or my new group of friends...
Although I was hopeful that this would most definitely NOT be me or the Galant, there was still the problem of how to get the Hub back on the car. (Three of the little things to hold it to the wheel are no longer there. Probably because the poor little Hub got run over.)

What exactly are the ingredients for reapplying a broken hubcap you ask? Well if you were to come to Steph's 'We Can and Will Fix Anything' Garage, this is what you would see. That is...paper towels and windex for cleaning, a pair of scissors, some rope, and a roll of PINK duct tape.

Step 1 of reapplying your hubcap:Loop the rope through any part of the tire that makes sense.

Step 2 (unfortunately not pictured due to greasy hands): apply duct tape, preferably a fun color, to the inside part of the hubcap. Apply hubcap to the wheel. Be sure to pull rope through Hub in preparation for step 3.

Step 3: Tie rope around hubcap. Double loop through for more stability if you desire. And there you go. As simple as 1-2-3! Your new Hub.

Thanks for choosing Steph's. We CAN and WILL Fix Anything!

Love for Sunday Shoes

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!! I hope this silly holiday finds you just smitten. Maybe because you got a Harry Potter or Charlie Brown valentine or because you really liked the new flavor candy hearts. Yup, they changed the flavors this year...I know this because I buy at least one bag a year. And they added new sayings to the hearts this year. For example, "text me." I guess the 21st century has made its impact on just about everything. Regardless, candy message hearts are one of the few things I look forward to when February rolls around! Or...maybe you are loving this valentine's day because you knew I would be posting a new pair of shoes! I bet that is it. Well, here you are! If I had a valentine to take me to an overpriced dinner tonight, I would wear this little number. Much love to you today!!!

about every five years...

So it SNOWED last night in Charleston, SC. Yes, actual snow that stuck to the ground and continued to pile up throughout the night. This kind of event only happens about every five years, and I'm so glad it happened in the year and half that I live here. Crazy.

Even more crazy, last night was the first night since I lived here that I got to get dressed up for something. The Hearts for Haiti Cocktail Party took place rain, shine or...snow. The party was lots of dancing and lots of fun!! Here are some pictures from the lovely evening...

Sarah, Tara, Kathryn and I played in the snow in King Street!!!

All of us loving the Cocktail Party.

Home Sweet Home, never thought I would see it snow covered.

The event to raise money for Haiti was quite a success and the snow was loads of fun to see. Great start to the weekend! Now...back to life and back to studying. After next week, we get a little break from exams. Thank goodness.

Happy Saturday everyone, enjoy it and get excited for tomorrow. It's not just Valentine's Day, but it's Sunday Shoes number 4!!!

Best. Career. Ever.

Today was my first day of the independent study I'm doing this semester and I loved it! Every Thursday I get to spend the afternoon with the sweetest little boy named Nashton. This kid is AWESOME. Nash has autism and so he does things a little different than others, but he is such an absolute joy to be around!

Today, we played on the swing for quite a while. He wanted to be pushed really high, and in the process, I got kicked in the face. It truly was my own fault and pretty funny. ha. Hopefully, tomorrow there is no sign of this...black eyes from 2 year olds are not that cool.

real things in life...for Tara

Back to the real world, these are the things going on in my life...

Tomorrow I have a midterm practical in Mus-cu-lo-ske-le-tal (the pronunciation if I were from England). I'm feeling alright about this, because that means it's Thursday and Thursday is almost Friday! So happy almost Friday people!!

What am I looking forward to this weekend, several things...Hearts for Haiti. Friday evening, MUSC is having a little gathering at this quaint venue downtown to raise money for Haiti. They are making this a formal event, so I am quite excited about that. Seeing as how I'll be spending this Valentine's Day with myself, I am looking forward to a reason to get dressed up. What do we think about these shoes for the evening?

Naturally, I am trying to figure out what shoes to wear before moving on to other things like clothing and accessories. The shoes, after all, are MOST important.

Most of all, for Haiti, but also for MUSC, and for having a good time in Charleston with friends, bring it on Friday. Let's do this thing!

So I see what all the fuss is about...

Do they dates March 20th or June 30th ring a bell to you?

Well, they do to me! Or at least now they do. March 20, 2010 is the date New Moon will be released on DVD. This I could not be more excited about with one and only one exception...June 30, 2010 is the date Eclipse will be released to theaters!!

Yes, I have been sucked into the Twilight Saga. I love everything about it. As promised the other day, I am informing you that I have finished reading the Twilight series: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. I now wish that vampires existed in my world and that I could be one. And hopefully I would have a really awesome talent like Edward, reading minds or Alice, seeing the future. I can only dream. And yes, I will probably dream.

When I first heard about these books a few years ago, I thought they sounded so ridiculous. I swore I would not read them or give into this obvious obsession with vampires. I was wrong.

Last March, Twilight (the movie) came out on DVD while I was on spring break with some of my best friends...who love Twilight. We decided to go to a release party at Hot Topic, we assumed they would be best prepared to host a vampire party. We were right. I willingly went along and enjoyed every bit of it even though I had ZERO clue what all these people were obsessed with. So we left the party with Twilight and glitter all over us (vampires sparkle in the sunlight so this was necessary). Upon returning home we watched the movie and this was my first ever experience with Twilight.

The movie had a very slow start and the acting was not so great, but at the end, I did understand why people liked it so much. Or I at least thought I did.

This past November, my same friends came to visit me for the premier of New Moon. We went, at midnight, dressed in shirts dedicate to Edward Cullen to see the 2nd part of the saga. I again, had no idea what to expect. And again, I loved it.

Needless to say, after seeing half of the story on DVD and in theaters, I decided it was time for me to see what the real story was. I got the Twilight Saga about six weeks ago, and finished reading it the other day. It was impossible not to fall completely for the characters and the ridiculous plot of the story. Only now do I see what all the fuss is about!

Sunday Shoes...3rd times a charm!

It's Super Bowl Sunday, and I'm still loving shoes! In honor of the Colts...who I am cheering for tonight, I have chosen these adorable blue shoes. If I were attending the game, I would most likely be sporting some cute pumps like these.

Things I must do when the weather is beautiful...

I have finally recovered from the terrible cold I had this week. With recovery, a few things are a must. I was not entirely productive at all this week. Mostly, I lounged around, slept and read a book, Breaking Dawn (I'll tell you ALL about it when I finish it)! So...on this beautiful Saturday...I'm stuck inside catching up on all the homework I let pile up as I laid on the couch this week. No fun. But as for now, I'm taking a study break. :)

I had my first two exams of the new semester this week, they were alright, considering I was slightly under the weather. I think they turned out great! I hit up Sonic Happy Hour several times the past few days to counteract my dragging mood with a Coca-Cola Classic...always my favorite. As far as the TV I feel obligated to watch since Comcast charges me for and I have a need to see who will be the next American Idol and why Dunder Mifflin no longer runs my favorite paper branch...Scranton, it was great!

The convict, Matt Lawrence, still has my vote on American Idol. The Idols are looking good this year, nothing quite as scary as Adam last year...thank goodness. I do not think I would be able to endure another season of those high pitched screams. I am looking forward to Hollywood week, and so should you! Big things in store for this coming Tuesday and Wednesday. Ellen is making her debut and the previews for Hollywood are looking fun!

As for Scranton, this new company Sabre, I'm not sure how I feel about it just yet. But my love for the greatest show ever, The Office, has not changed. And I'm writing about this because I feel like those characters are some of my best friends. :) I am just as concerned as to wear Baby Halpert will be in daycare as Jim, Pam, and Michael are. haha. I just love that show. It makes me laugh, way too often.

Oh! Go see Dear John, it was great! I went to see it last night with some friends and loved it. And if you are thinking you can guess how it ends...don't. You'll never know. And I'm not going to ruin it for you, so go see it!

Thanks for checking in on my life. Hope you are well!! My study break is now over, so I'm headed back to the madness :) Much love!
