Sunday Shoes!!

Winter is still apon us...I thought with the b-e-a-utiful weather we've been having in Charleston, that spring was coming. Wrong. But the good news with that means, there is still time to wear fun booties like these! I've really been loving all kinds of boots this season and a little extra color is always good for any outfit!

What happens when you call someone on their bluff?

They respond.

For the last fourteen years I have lived in Knoxville, TN. Almost every winter there is a "snow storm". When this time of year rolls around, the weather man informs everyone that snow is coming and to stock up on food and stay indoors. Naturally...everyone panics. Grocery stores are suddenly running low on milk and bread, and Mayo has a line out the door with people buying sleds. The truth is, this snow storm usually only brings about 2-4 inches of snow. Yes, 2-4 inches.

As I planned to head home for the weekend this past Thursday, I payed zero attention to the fact that Knoxville was preparing for yet another snow storm. I packed up the galant and was ready to say goodbye Charleston and hello Tennessee! Because after fifteen years of supposed snow storms, why believe anyone now? Well, maybe I should have.

Despite family and friends saying I should consider not venturing to Tennessee, I was on my way Friday afternoon. Little did I know that a mere four hours into the trip I would be going 35 mph on the interstate and eventually parked and watching a snowball fight. That's right, I didn't make it Tennessee on Friday. Little white flakes poured down a record breaking snow of 11 inches in Asheville, NC and that's as far as I made it.

Fortunately, the roads had been cleared by Saturday morning and I could continue on my stubborn way. But as far as calling the weatherman's bluff...he was holding a Royal Flush.

the latest...

Yesterday I turned in my application to go on a medical missions trip to Misindi, Uganda. Words fail me in describing how excited I am about this trip. I will be going to Uganda with Palmetto Medical Initiative, a non-profit organization taking healthcare global. The trip takes place this May...just a few months away!

Even closer than May, on Friday I start my first fieldwork experience! Every Friday this semester I will spend the day in a memory care clinic. I get the priviledge to work with adults with memory problems. Should be lots of fun!

At the beginning of March I will get to do my first pediatric fieldwork, this I am VERY excited about!! Most of my excitement for this comes from the fact that I'm 98% sure that I should be a pediatric OT. I am not sure where I will be for this one, but it is a week long. My professor informed me today that he is still waiting to hear back from a place in KNOXVILLE about whether or not I can go there. Cross your fingers...I would love to be in Knoxville for a week!

Sunday Shoes...

Seeing as how this blog is a small glimpse into my life, I've decided to dedicate Sundays to a rather fun part of me...SHOES! Each Sunday I will post what I find to be an adorable pair of shoes. Today's pair of shoes belong to my dear friend Kristin. She purchased this pair of Dolce & Gabbana shoes during our shopping spree in London. Kristin later wore them to dinner with The Royal Family...she lives a great life. I personally think the shoes are great for only the best of occasions! So there you go...enjoy Sunday Shoes!

my attempt at joining the 21st century

Eight months ago I made a big move from Tennessee to Charleston, SC. Since then my life has almost completely revolved around school. However, I have managed to have a little fun and enjoy things I've never done before. This month I attended my first ever oyster roast, and it was quite an experience! Given the lack of communication I have had with those I miss dearly, Big Orange Country, I've decided to start a blog about the life I live for those who would be interested to know. Enjoy!!
